The Hydrogeology Research Group at the Department of Earth Sciences in the
University of Hong Kong is seeking a Postdoctoral Fellow to conduct research
in hydrogeology.  The Fellow is expected to be of exceptional research
strength and have track publication record. The Fellow is able to 1) conduct
numerical modeling at regional or local scale related to complex subsurface
flow and chemical transport processes; 2) perform laboratory/field
hydrogeological investigations; 3) author peer-reviewed papers in refereed
international journals; 4) work as a member of multidisciplinary team. 

 

The Fellow will play a key role in one or more of the following
multidisciplinary research projects funded by General Research Fund, Hong
Kong Grant Council, which provide partial financial support for this
position: "hydrogeological and geochemical characterization of clay-rich
aquitards in the Pearl River Delta", "submarine groundwater discharge in
Tolo Harbour", "subsurface airflow induced by pumping tests", and "origin
and evolution of abnormally high ammonium groundwater in the Pearl River
Delta". 

 

The research position is for three and the monthly salary ranges from HK$
22,170 to 35,565, depending on the experience of the candidate.  The
successful applicant should have a Ph.D. degree in hydrogeology, or a
closely related field with significant research experience in numerical
modeling of regional groundwater systems. The candidate should be a well
motivated scholar with strong computing, field and communication skills.
Research experience in groundwater and surface water interaction, coastal
aquifers, hydrostratigraphic models, field hydrogeology, or
hydrogeochemistry will be an advantage.
