The Illinois State Geological Survey is seeking an Assistant Research Scientist, Geophysicist to develop and sustain an independent geophysical research program aimed at innovative and strategic development, and applications of shallow and environmental seismic geophysical methods to contribute to multi-disciplinary research programs within the Prairie Research Institute and beyond. The position will be based in Champaign, Illinois.

Qualifications include a Ph.D. in geophysics, geology, engineering, or a related discipline that is appropriate with major duties. Preferred qualifications include expertise and knowledge of integrating various 1-D and 2-D geophysical methods, and knowledge of geophysical program strategies to contribute to shallow, unconsolidated sediment and aquifer characterization.
