Postdoctoral Position in Climate Change and the Global Hydrologic Cycle at
UCLA

The UCLA Department of Atmospheric and Oceanic Sciences and Center for
Climate Science seek a postdoctoral scholar to be supervised by Prof. Alex
Hall. The position would begin as soon as possible. The term would initially
be for one year, but is renewable for one or more years, contingent on
satisfactory progress.

The general research involves using global climate models to identify and
understand large-scale changes in the hydrologic cycle under climate change,
with a particular focus on heavy precipitation and drought. The project on
which the postdoctoral scholar will be working is part of a larger effort to
better understand and project the future of hydrologic extremes, including
the use of emergent constraints as an uncertainty-reduction method.

Any candidate with interest in this topic is invited to apply. Applicants
should have a Ph.D. in Atmospheric and Oceanic Sciences or a related field,
effective oral and written communication skills, and strong programming and
analytical skills.

Applicants should submit (1) a statement of research interests and goals, no
longer than one page, and (2) a complete CV, including contact information
for three references. These materials should be addressed to Ms. Katharine
Reich at kreich at ioes.ucla.edu <mailto:kreich at ioes.ucla.edu> . Consideration
of applications will begin immediately and continue until the position is
filled.

The University of California is an Equal Opportunity/Affirmative Action
Employer. All qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment
without regard to race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender
identity, national origin, disability, age or protected veteran status. For
the complete University of California nondiscrimination and affirmative
action policy, please follow this link:
