S.S. Papadopulos & Associates, Inc. (SSP&A) is currently seeking a Staff or Project Engineer for our Kansas City, Missouri, office to oversee construction of environmental remediation measures and investigation projects involving soil and groundwater contamination.  As an integral part of our Kansas City team the selected candidate will be directly responsible for the following:

*                Construction oversight for implementation of hydrogeological and engineering remedies including excavation of contaminated soils, installation and abandonment of monitoring wells and extraction wells, and installation of subsurface barrier walls;

*                Providing remediation design support, remediation construction oversight, and project progress/status evaluation.

*                Providing office and field support for drilling, well installation, and soil/groundwater sampling programs.

*                Preparing environmental reports, including data evaluation and trend analysis, tabulation and mapping of data, and text preparation.

*                Assisting project managers and senior staff with initiating, planning, and executing project tasks, including preparing scopes of work, cost estimates, and schedules; tracking activities and budgets; and providing field supervision of subcontractors.

*                Interacting with clients and assisting senior staff with company business development activities.

Qualifications:

*                A Bachelor's degree plus 3 or more years of professional experience or Master's degree plus 1 or more years of professional experience.

*                Technical expertise in remediation engineering.  Associated experience in one or more of the following is desirable: field construction oversight, groundwater/surface water hydrology, hydrogeology, contaminant geochemistry, environmental geophysics.

*                A strong work ethic, excellent organizational skills, and close attention to detail; an enthusiasm and willingness to pitch in on a variety of tasks; and a curiosity and enjoyment for work that is not routine.

*                Basic understanding of the investigation and remediation of hazardous materials release sites under CERCLA/RCRA or State environmental cleanup programs.

*                Demonstrated ability to gather, compile, and manipulate datasets; effectively synthesize and interpret site data; and develop written technical documents and tabular presentation of data.

*                Expertise with AutoCAD and/or ArcGIS is preferred.  Experience with database software (Access, PostgreSQL, etc.) or programming (particularly R or Python) is considered a plus.

*                Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

*                Existing certification for 40-hour HAZWOPER and current 8-hour refresher training as specified in OSHA 29 CFR 1910.120(e) are preferred.
