The Department of Oceanography at Texas A&M University invites applications
for a full‐time non‐tenure track Instructional Assistant Professor. This is
a 9‐month appointment for an initial three‐year term, renewable contingent o
n performance and continued funding. We seek an energetic educator to lead
efforts to develop cutting‐edge fundamental Ocean Observing and Analysis cou
rses, and expand our catalog of online courses. The successful candidate wil
l teach two courses per semester using effective pedagogical techniques in a
combination of classroom and online settings, and develop new online course
materials. Teaching opportunities also include field, high impact learning,
and study abroad courses.



The successful candidate may augment the 9‐month appointment with research f
unding or by teaching undergraduate research and field courses and/or other
courses in their area of expertise. In addition to teaching, the successful
candidate is expected to make contributions to departmental service and will
have opportunities to explore cutting‐edge teaching technologies or practi
ce. This appointment includes the ability to seek extramural funding, con
duct collaborative research with other members of the faculty, use departmen
t facilities, and publish research results. At the time of employment, candi
dates must have a Ph.D. in Oceanography or a related discipline in addition
to higher education teaching experience.



The College of Geosciences at Texas A&M University is a unique institution
committed to fundamental Earth systems research across four Departments:
Atmospheric Sciences, Geography, Oceanography, and Geology and Geophysics. T
he College hosts the Texas Sea Grant, the Geochemical and Environmental
Research Group (GERG), and the International Ocean Discovery Program (IODP).
The college has established a teaching/research facility in Costa Rica and a
teaching facility near San Miguel de Allende, Mexico. This appointment
includes the opportunity to work across departments and programs in the
College and lead international coursework to maximize educational opportunit
ies for our undergraduates.
