Description of Work Unit

CEMML is a research, education and service unit within the Warner College of
Natural Resources at Colorado State University (CSU). CEMML applies the
latest and most appropriate science to promote the sustainable management of
natural and cultural resources on Department of Defense (DoD) and other
public lands. We provide technical support, conduct applied research, and
offer career development and learning opportunities to support resource
stewardship. We collaborate with our sponsors and within CSU to resolve
complex environmental issues, leaving a legacy of science-based decisions
that sustain our resources for future generations.


Position Summary

This position is located in Washington DC, and will provide technical
support to the Air Force at the Pentagon. The successful candidate is a
subject matter expert supporting Air Force enterprise-wide environmental
programs, providing policy development and guidance to decision makers in
natural and cultural resource management, NEPA, climate change and
environmental compliance.


Required Job Qualifications

*        Applicants must have a B.S. degree in Environmental Science,
Biology or a closely related field plus 10 years of experience supporting
environmental program management and natural and cultural resource
sustainable planning.

*        Applicants must have knowledge of and experience with federal
regulations regarding environmental compliance and natural and cultural
resources (e.g., T&E species, Clean Water Act, NEPA, etc).

*        The successful candidate must be able to pass the Department of
Defense background check for an AF Common Access Card (CAC) and be eligible
to obtain Secret Clearance.

*        The successful candidate must be eligible to work in the United
States by proposed start date. CEMML will not provide visa sponsorship for
this position.

*        The successful candidate must have a valid driver's license or the
ability to obtain a driver's license by the employment start date.


Preferred Job Qualifications

*        Desired qualifications include experience working in a highly
structured organization and knowledge of Air Force Instructions, directives,
guidance and processes with established lines of authority, procedures, and
protocols is also beneficial.

*        Experience providing technical review and analysis for natural
resource issues such as encroachment and development, and experience writing
and reviewing INRMPs and ICRMP is beneficial.

*        Experience writing fact sheets and briefings to Senate and House
Armed Services Committee members, professional staff and military liaisons
is a plus.

*        Knowledge of geospatial mapping is helpful.

Assistant Secretary for Installations and Environment, AFCEC and Air Staff
(A7C) organizations.

*        He or she will coordinate DAS initiated policies and guidance with
Air Staff to ensure well-rounded policy development.

*        The successful candidate will support policy development for the
Environmental Impact Analysis Process for Air Force compliance with NEPA and
provide management support to the HQ Air Force environmental hazardous
materials management program.

*        The successful candidate in this position will be expected to
communicate with all levels of management and coordinate team actions to
ensure environmental compliance.

(DAS) of the Air Force in matters related to environmental compliance
and standardization.
