Nous cherchons un(e) étudiant(e) brillant(e) pour rejoindre notre équipe
pour un stage de recherche appliquée en prévision climatique saisonnière
pour le cacao en Afrique de l'Ouest. Proposé en cotutelle Rockwinds-IRD,
ce stage s'adresse principalement aux étudiants en transition de M1 au
M2 qui sont à l'aise avec la programmation informatique (le stage va
inclure beaucoup de codage) et qui ont un fort intérêt en sciences du
climat. 

Durée : 3-4 mois 

Quand ? Date de début flexible 2018 

Où ? Siège social de Rockwinds, au centre de Bordeaux, avec un séjour
d'au moins 2 semaines à l'Université Félix Houphouët Boigny d'Abidjan
(UFHB) en Côte d'Ivoire. 

Infos pratiques : 

- Coûts d'hébergement et salaire conforme à la convention de stage payés
par Rockwinds  

- Malheureusement, des contraintes logistiques nous obligent de ne
recevoir que des candidatures des étudiants qui sont citoyens de l'U.E.
ou qui possèdent un visa leur permettant de vivre et travailler dans
l'U.E. 

- L'évaluation des candidatures commencera mi-avril

Basée à Bordeaux, Rockwinds est une société de négoce de cacao. Dans une
démarche innovante, Rockwinds est engagée dans un travail de recherche
en science du climat afin d'améliorer sa capacité de prévision de
l'évolution du climat et son effet sur la production de cacao en Afrique
de l'Ouest (source de 70% de la récolte mondiale de cacao) et de se

L'Institut de Recherche pour le Développement (IRD) est un acteur majeur
de la recherche pour le développement en France et les sciences du
climat représentent un des leurs domaines de fort intérêt et d'ample
expertise. En affectation en Côte d'Ivoire, Dr. Arona Diedhiou,
directeur de recherche et co-encadrant du stage, a comme mission
principale l'étude des changements climatiques et le développement des
services climatiques dans le cadre de programmes conjoints entre la
France et la Côte d'Ivoire.

We are searching for a bright student to join our team for an applied
research internship in seasonal climate prediction for cocoa in West
Africa. Proposed in joint guidance by Rockwinds and the IRD, this
internship is well suited for students between their 1st and 2nd year of
Master's program, who are comfortable with computer programming (the
internship will include a fair amount of coding) and with an interest in
Climate Science. 

Duration: 3-4 months 

When? Flexible starting date, 2018 

Where? Rockwinds headquarters, in the center of Bordeaux, with a minimum
stay of 2 weeks at Université Félix Houphouët Boigny of Abidjan (UFHB)
in Ivory Coast. 

Practical information: 

- Housing costs and salary according to internship convection will be
covered by Rockwinds 

- Unfortunately, due to logistical reasons, we are constrained to only
receive applications from students who are citizens of the E.U. or hold
a valid visa allowing them to live and work in the E.U. 

- The application selection will begin in mid-April

approach, Rockwinds is invested in a research effort in climate sciences
in order to improve its capacity to predict climate evolution and its
effect on cocoa production in West Africa (source of 70% of the world's

is a key stakeholder in research for development, wherein Climate
Sciences represent a domain of strong interest and extensive expertise.
Based in Ivory Coast, Dr. Arona Diedhiou, IRD researcher and internship
co-supervisor, is in charge of climate change research and the
development of climate services through joint programs between France
and Ivory Coast.
