Postdoctoral Researcher in Remote Sensing of Precipitation
Title

Postdoctoral Researcher in Remote Sensing of Precipitation

Department

Hydrology and Atmospheric Sciences (0469)

Location

Main Campus

Position Summary

The Department of Hydrology and Atmospheric Sciences at the University of Arizona (UA) is seeking a motivated postdoctoral scholar in remote sensing of precipitation. The successful candidate will work with a team of investigators from the University of Arizona, NASA centers, and other universities to advance the global precipitation climatology project (GPCP), particularly in high latitudes and cold regions. GPCP is one of the few state-of-the-art "global" long-term precipitation products that is well maintained and widely used as an observational reference by international communities. The current GPCP products are computed through merging of various observational data sets in both space and time, with care taken to preserve Climate Data Record (CDR) characteristics. The general approach is to combine the precipitation information available from each of several sources (satellite and in situ) into a final merged product, taking advantage of the strengths of each data type.

Outstanding UA benefits include health, dental, vision, and life insurance; paid vacation, sick leave, and holidays; UA/ASU/NAU tuition reduction for the employee and qualified family members; access to UA recreation and cultural activities; and more!

The University of Arizona has been listed by Forbes as one of America's Best Employers in the United States and WorldatWork and the Arizona Department of Health Services have recognized us for our innovative work-life programs.
