The Department of Hydrology and Atmospheric Sciences at the University of Arizona (UA) is seeking a motivated postdoctoral scholar in remote sensing of precipitation. The successful candidate will work with a team of investigators from the University of Arizona, <span class="caps">NASA</span> centers,
and other universities to advance the global precipitation climatology project (<span class="caps">GPCP</span>), particularly in high latitudes and cold regions. <span class="caps">GPCP</span> is one of the few state-of-the-art “global” long-term precipitation
products that is well maintained and widely used as an observational reference by international communities. The current <span class="caps">GPCP</span> products are computed through merging of various observational data sets in both space and time, with care
taken to preserve Climate Data Record (<span class="caps">CDR</span>) characteristics. The general approach is to combine the precipitation information available from each of several sources (satellite and in situ) into a final merged product, taking advantage
of the strengths of each data type.<o:p></o:p></p>
