The University of Washington (UW) School of Oceanography invites
applications for a full-time, 9-month (100% FTE), tenure-track Assistant
Professor faculty position in dynamical physical oceanography to begin as
soon as autumn quarter 2018.

It is anticipated that the successful candidate's areas of research may
include, but will not necessarily be limited to, the effect of mixing on
large-scale circulations, interactions across scales, and the role of ocean
circulation in decadal climate prediction or paleoclimate. The method of
study can include modeling, theoretical, or observational approaches. It is
expected that the successful candidate will teach geophysical fluid
dynamics, among other courses at graduate and undergraduate levels.

The School of Oceanography resides in the College of the Environment, which
fosters collaborations among the faculty, staff, and students engaged in the
study of environmental sciences, engineering, and the human dimensions of
environmental challenges. This position will offer opportunities for
interaction with researchers in a wide range of disciplines, including
oceanography, atmospheric science, biology, geology, hydrology, economics,
and environmental policy. All UW faculty members engage in teaching,
research, and service. This position will collaborate with faculty and
mentor students from a wide range of disciplines, cultures, economic means,
and academic backgrounds. A Ph.D. or foreign equivalent in oceanography or a
related field and a record of oceanography-related research are required.
