The research associate will have the opportunity to work in collaboration with Prof. Lautz and colleagues on ongoing and emerging research projects, including: hydrogeologic controls on methane occurrence in shallow groundwater; stream-groundwater interactions and solute fate and transport in urban and restored streams; and/or, remote sensing of environmental conditions using unmanned aerial systems. The research associate will also teach two courses per year, one in Hydrogeology during the Fall semester and the other an introductory course in Water & the Environment in the Spring. We are seeking a recent PhD recipient interested in pursuing their research, while also gaining mentored experience as a teacher and member of the Earth Sciences department.
Ideal candidates will have a strong background in hydrogeology/hydrology, statistics, and numerical methods; be comfortable working independently on challenging problems; and, seek opportunities to engage undergraduate and graduate students in research and teaching. Applicants must hold a PhD in Earth Sciences or a related field, with a specialization in physical hydrology or hydrogeology, at the time of appointment.
