Tenure Track Faculty PositionsDepartment of Chemistry
Competition No. - *A104930146*
Closing Date - *Oct 21, 2016*

The Department of Chemistry at the University of Alberta invites
applications for several tenure-track faculty positions. The starting date
is July 1, 2017. The rank for these positions is directed at the Assistant
or Associate Professor level. The Department seeks applicants in the
fields of: 1) Analytical Chemistry, 2) Environmental Chemistry.
Preferential consideration will be given to outstanding individuals whose
research areas are of consensual interest to the faculty and complement
current expertise in the Department. The Department has vibrant research
programs encompassing most areas of modern chemistry including materials
and nanoscience, catalysis, analytical chemistry, spectroscopy, synthesis
and medicinal chemistry, chemical biology, computational chemistry, and
instrumentation and analysis (www.chem.ualberta.ca). An outstanding
research environment is offered with access to excellent support facilities.

Candidates must hold a Ph.D. and have demonstrated excellence in research
and teaching. Criteria for research excellence will include a strong record
of publications and presentations in high impact venues, a successful
research funding history (in the case of applicants who already hold a
tenure-track position), a summary of planned research projects, and
appropriately supportive and detailed letters of reference. Evidence of
high-calibre teaching and supervisory potential will be documented via
previous teaching experiences, letters of reference, and a statement of
teaching philosophy. Successful candidates will be expected to develop an
innovative and robust externally-funded research program, regularly engage
in relevant domestic and international research networks, teach both
graduate and undergraduate classes, supervise and mentor graduate and
undergraduate students, and provide service to the Department, the Faculty,
and the University, as well as to professional and external communities.

Interested individuals should submit a curriculum vitae, a clear statement
of which field they are applying in, a proposal that details innovative and
original research, a statement of teaching philosophy, and arrange to have
three confidential letters of reference sent on their behalf.

*To assist the University in complying with mandatory reporting
requirements of the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act (R203(3)(e),

your application (within your cover letter). If you do not have a Canadian

the cover letter).*

The application deadline is October 21, 2016.
