The newly launched PhD program Microbial Nitrogen Cycling From Single Cells
to Ecosystems invites applications for PhD positions.

10 PhD positions funded by the Austrian Science Fund (FWF) for up to 4
years are available from January 1, 2016 in Vienna at the Departments of
Limnology and Bio-Oceanography, Microbiology and Ecosystem Sciences and
Ecogenomics and Systems Biology.

This program involves funding for 10 PhD students (in 10 different research
groups), as well as money for networking, workshops, invitation of
international speakers (collaborators!) etc. The students are requested to
spend at least 6 months in a secondary lab, if they wish to get extension
for funding beyond 3 years.

The graduate student program offers a unique multidisciplinary PhD
training on Microbial Nitrogen Cycling approached from the three
complementary areas of Microbial Ecology, Functional Genomics and Ecosystem
Research.

The program is open to students who hold a Master of Science degree (or an
equivalent quali
cation) in Ecology, Biogeochemistry, (Environmental)
Microbiology, Molecular Biology, Bioinformatics or related fi
elds.
