[ES_JOBS_NET] Postdoctoral Researcher position on permafrost CH4 modeling, Max-Planck-Institute for Biogeochemistry, Jena, Germany

Mathias Goeckede mgoeck at bgc-jena.mpg.de
Mon Mar 9 15:20:28 MDT 2015

A full-time postdoctoral position has recently been opened at the
Max-Planck-Institute for Biogeochemistry in Jena, Germany. The announced
position shall be filled as soon as possible, and incoming applications
will be reviewed immediately. The position will remain open until
filled, and new applications will be considered accordingly. Final
application deadline is April 15, 2015.

The main focus of the work will be on the modeling of methane emissions
from highly structured Arctic ecosystems at local to regional scales,
using the terrestrial ecosystem model JSBACH. A particular focus will be
placed on testing the existing representation of subgrid scale
variability in hydrological conditions, refining it for the landscape
scale, and evaluating its impact on the simulation of net methane
emissions. Model performance will be tested against reference datasets
at plot (ecosystem chamber fluxes), landscape (eddy-covariance fluxes)
and regional scales (atmospheric inverse modeling), with the final
product anticipated as a modeling tool to bridge these scales.

qualifications and application procedure can be found under
