Postdoctoral fellow in atmospheric science

A postdoctoral research fellow position is available with Prof. Eric Kort’s research group at the University of Michigan (http://aoss-research.engin.umich.edu/faculty/kort/) starting in Summer 2015. In this position, the fellow’s research will focus on an upcoming airborne campaign with the NSF Gulfstream V over the Southern Ocean scheduled for winter of 2016 [ORCAS: The O2/N2 Ratio and CO2 Airborne Southern Ocean Study]. The project is focused on advancing our understanding of physical and biological controls on air-sea gas exchange of CO2 and O2 in the Southern Ocean. Work will entail high-resolution atmospheric modeling for flight planning, and analyzing in-situ data collected from the GV. For this project, the fellow will interact extensively with the campaign's science team both in developing optimal sampling strategies and linking the atmospheric observations with ocean modeling conducted at NCAR.

Candidates should have a PhD in a relevant science or engineering field. Experience with regional transport modeling (such as STILT, Flexpart, WRF) or experience with high-resolution inverse modeling is preferred. Please email a CV, a cover letter describing research experience and goals, and contact information for three references to eakort at umich.edu<mailto:eakort at umich.edu> , subject line: ATTN: Postdoctoral Search.

The University of Michigan is an equal opportunity/affirmative action employer.
