The Institute of Geosciences at the Faculty of Geosciences/Geography,
Johann Wolfgang Goethe-University Frankfurt/Main announces the following
open position:

*Professorship (W3) in Geology*


The candidate must have demonstrated expertise in surficial geology,
involving the coupling between the atmosphere, oceans and the lithosphere.
The field of specialization should cover current topics in Earth system
science, like for example, biogeochemical cycles or climate-controlled
variations in ocean circulation over geologic time. Many existing
facilities in the Institute for Geosciences are ideal for such
investigations (see www.ifg.uni-frankfurt.de/48934943/ausstattung for more
details).

The successful candidate will actively contribute to the Bachelor and
Master of Geosciences programs, particularly in the areas of
surficial/regional geology and geochemistry. Field-based courses form an
important component of the teaching duties. Courses can be held in English,
particularly those offered at an advanced-level.

The candidate should have international research experience and a proven
ability to obtain external research funding, as demonstrated through
publication of previous research activities. He/she possesses skills in
didactics and personnel management and will become involved in the
university administration. It is expected that the candidate will
contribute to further developing the scientific profile of the Institute,
as well as expanding national and international collaborations. The
application must include a concept of how the candidate will establish an
internationally visible profile and how her/his research complements the
existing strengths within the Faculty of Geosciences/Geography and other
research institutions in the Rhine-Main region.

The designated salary for the position is based on “W3” of the German
