Professional Research Assistant: Manager, Central Computing Facility

The Cooperative Institute for Research in Environmental Sciences ( CIRES 
, www.cires.colorado.edu) at the University of Colorado Boulder seeks a 
fulltime Professional Research Assistant ("Manager") for its central 
computing facility ( CCF ). The work of CCF includes support of all 
computing services needed by the CIRES Administration.

The CCF manager is responsible for the assessment of the business 
computing needs of the organization, recommending systems and practices 
to meet these needs, oversight of system implementation and operations, 
and leadership of IT customer service in CIRES . CCF also provides 
selective services to CIRES researchers. The manager supervises four 
full time staff and multiple part time student employees. CCF interfaces 
with CU Boulder Office of Information Technology and follows CU Boulder 
policies regarding computational services.

Primary systems currently supported by CCF are:
. CIRES External and Internal Web Site
. Email & Calendars
. Desktop hardware, software, networking & printing for ~50 
administrative staff and scientists using multiple platforms
. Server maintenance for administrative and scientific computing
. Research computing support and big data plans
. Database systems for management of human resources and finance data 
within the University systems context.
Minimum Qualifications
Requirements for the CCF manager include:
. Bachelor's degree in a relevant field
. 5 or more years of experience providing information technology support
. 3-5 years of experience in IT leadership and management preferred
. Demonstrated customer service and collaboration skills and a 
commitment to providing efficient, pleasant, personalized service of 
high quality to CIRES personnel.
