*Position Function*
The position will be expected to perform research, under the supervision of
Dr. Daniel H. Buckley, focused on the topic of “Impacts of Nitrogen
Deposition on Microbial Community Carbon Dynamics in Forest Soils”. The
research is funded by USDA-NIFA award (2014-67019-21553). This research
requires a Ph.D. level scientist with skills in molecular microbial ecology
and bioinformatics. The position will be responsible for Stable Isotope
Probing of nucleic acids from soil microbial communities to track the flow
of carbon into microbial communities over time. Responsibilities will
include laboratory bench work, data analysis, computer and server
management consistent with the needs of data analysis, and writing and
editing of scientific papers. Responsibilities will also include training
and supervising graduate and undergraduate students when necessary.
Responsibilities will also include lab administration in support of these
research efforts including assisting with grant writing to secure
additional funds as needed.

*Anticipated Division of Time*
The position is anticipated to devote approximately 90-100% FTE to project
USDA-NIFA award (2014-67019-21553).

Qualifications


*Requirements*

Ph.D. in Microbial Ecology or an allied field

Experience in bioinformatics required.

Experience in molecular microbial ecology required.

Prior postdoctoral experience is not required.

The candidate should have writing and research experience commensurate with
the completion of the Ph.D degree.


*Supervision Exercised*

Responsibilities will include research training and supervising graduate
and undergraduate student research activities when necessary.
