The Pacific Northwest National Laboratory (PNNL) seeks a postdoctoral
researcher for research related to regional and global modeling with a
focus on aerosol processes and their interaction with clouds. The
selected candidate is expected to participate in the development of a
framework for an aerosol subgrid variability scheme to reduce
scale-induced uncertainty in simulating aerosols and their radiative
forcing in GCMs. The successful candidate will also have the opportunity
to work with a group of recognized scientists to quantify the
uncertainty and sensitivity in aerosol-cloud interactions in climate model.
Candidates must have received a PhD within the past five years from an
accredited college or university.
A PhD in Atmospheric Sciences, Meteorology, or related fields is
required. Candidates with experience in (1) regional or global climate
modeling; (2) aerosol microphysical processes; (3) fluency in FORTRAN;
and (4) fluency with LINUX operating system and parallel programming
paradigms on high-performance computers are strongly preferred. Because
visible scientific accomplishments are key to the success of our project
team, the candidate must have demonstrated excellent communication
skills as evidenced by publications in peer-reviewed journals and
presentations at professional conferences. Proactive and timely
publication is an essential requirement. A cover letter describing
applicants' research experience and interests, and a curriculum vitae
with a list of publications in referenced journals is required.

The Tri-Cities started out with 3 main communities: Kennewick, Pasco,
and Richland - but the phenomenal growth of neighboring West Richland
has made the area more of a "Quad-City". Located just hours from
Seattle, WA and Portland, OR, the area is embraced by the beauty of a
desert landscape and connected by the Columbia, Snake, and Yakima
rivers. The Tri-Cities offers a multitude of recreational, cultural,
and historical activities and is a great place to visit and live. We're
known for our premier golf courses, award-winning wineries, unique
shopping, and abundant outdoor and water recreation. Visit the link
