Ecosystem Modeling Assistantship

Dr. Tara Hudiburg is seeking a PhD student to join her newly formed=20
Ecosystem Modeling lab at the University of Idaho in the Department of=20=

Forest, Rangeland, and Fire Sciences. The student will assist in ecosyste=
m=20
modeling and field research focused on how disturbance and climate affect=
=20
carbon, water, and nutrient balance in Idaho forests. While specific=20
science questions remain open, the project will include objectives relate=
d=20
to the Idaho NSF-EPSCoR MILES program addressing ecosystem management=20
options for protecting and maintaining Idaho's landscape ecosystem servic=
es.
Previous ecosystem modeling experience is not required, however applicant=
s=20
should have spatial analysis skills, quantitative skills, be proficient i=
n=20
at least one programming language, be comfortable with UNIX/LINUX platfor=
ms=20
and have some background in forest ecological processes. Strong writing=20=

skills and the ability to communicate effectively are essential.=20
Graduate research assistant funding is available for 4 years starting in=20=

August 2014 or January 2015 (stipend of ~$21,000 per annum and paid=20
