*P**h.D. Position in Biogeochemistry and Paleoceanography at Syracuse
University*

The GAPP Lab at Syracuse University (http://gapp.syr.edu) is seeking one,
possibly two motivated students to embark on Ph.D. projects in the area of
stable isotope biogeochemistry and paleoceanography. An NSF-funded
graduate assistantship is available starting in Fall of 2015, with an
option to begin research activities during the summer of 2015. Research
efforts will focus on the study of nutrient cycling and paleoecology during
Oceanic Anoxic Events (Cretaceous and Devonian) and the biogeochemistry of
modern, anoxic lake systems. We are seeking students with experience in
stable isotope geochemisty and basic geology field work, and interests in
paleoecology and organic geochemistry. Students with undergraduate or
graduate backgrounds in geology and/or chemistry are urged to apply.

The GAPP Lab is housed in a new, state of the art mass spectrometry and
organic geochemistry facility with a full compliment of
geochemical instrumentation. Current students are doing a wide range of
research that focuses principally on issues of deep-time global change. The
Syracuse University Department of Earth Sciences is a growing and dynamic
department located in beautiful Central New York. For more information
