Dear Professors,

I would like to bring to your attention an open position in the Meteorology program at the California Air Resources Board (CARB). The final application date is September 4th or "until filled”. Generally, I am seeking applicants with very good verbal and written communication skills, a science (meteorology or atmospheric science)/engineering background, experience with meteorological forecasting and database management, and very good environmental and meteorological data processing and analysis skills. Details on the open position and requirements can be found at:

http://jobs.spb.ca.gov/wvpos/more_info.cfm?recno=570047

I would appreciate receiving letters of interest and a resume from interested parties via e-mail as soon as possible (more information on the formal ARB application process is below). A signed and dated State of California Application Form (also discussed below) can be sent separately via mail.

In order to be offered a position at the ARB, applicants must be listed as eligible for "Air Resources Engineer" or "Air Pollution Specialist" positions on a list maintained by the California Department of Human Resources (CalHR) for use by ARB. This is deemed "list eligible". Interested parties also must either be a U.S. Citizen or have a current visa with work authorization for a permanent, full-time position.

To accomplish list eligibility, you need to go the CalHR website to take an exam. The link is: https://www.jobs.ca.gov/. In addition, a separate State Application form must be submitted to the contact person listed on the position advertisement for each specific position that the candidate is interested in. Completing the list eligibility information for CalHR can be done simultaneously with applying for the open position(s), but should be completed and approved prior to interviewing. Links to the State application form and job openings can be found via the following web page.

It will be highly appreciated if you can forward the info to your graduate students and post-doctors. If you have any questions or if more information is needed, please contact me via phone or e-mail. Thanks in advance for any leads that you are able to provide!

Sincerely,

Pingkuan Di, Manager
