The Chair of Geomorphology and Soil Science (Univ.-Prof.
Dr.rer.nat. Jörg Völkel) is seeking from December 1st 2013 or as soon as
possible thereafter a Research Assistant / Postdoctoral Researcher
(TV-L E13, full-time, temporary) for scientific cooperation and
coordination in already acquired research projects (BMBF, EU, etc. )
with an emphasis in the areas of geophysical prospection and geo-archive
research.


TASKS:

 * coordination,
   reporting, and publication of ongoing research projects (e.g. BMBF, EU)
 * development of further research collaborations as well as preparation and
   development
   of applications for research funding, with the aim of soliciting funding
   for the own position; opportunity for further qualification
(Habilitation)
 * co-supervision of PhD students, M.Sc. - and B.Sc. candidates, also abroad
 * participation in teaching for personal qualification


REQUIREMENTS:

 * PhD
   in geology, geomorphology, soil science or related disciplines
 * very good knowledge and skills in near-surface geophysical
   prospecting (GPR,
   ERT, SSR, etc.)
 * good knowledge of sedimentological-pedological analyses (field and
   laboratory)
 * profound knowledge in the field of (cultural) landscape genesis and
   (paleo-)
   ecosystem research
 * willingness to work in the field, at home and abroad
 * field experience in (sub) tropical arid environments (e.g. Southern
Africa
   ) is
   desirable
 * excellent English skills, excellent German skills, communication skills
   and
   willingness to work in a team
 * driving license class B


We offer the opportunity for scientific work and further qualifications in
cutting-edge research in an internationally operating research team at the
TUM campus
at Weihenstephan with leading partners at universities and research centers,
at
home and abroad. The position is in collaboration with project partners at
the
Helmholtz Centre Potsdam GFZ German Research Centre for Geosciences and
Senckenberg am Meer SAM Wilhelmshaven. The Technische Universität München
offers an excellent research environment for young scientists. The position
is
limited to 2 or 3 years initially, prolongation intended. The TU München
aims
to increase the proportion of women; qualified women are therefore strongly
