The Chair of Geomorphology and Soil Science (Univ.-Prof.<br>
Dr.rer.nat. Jörg Völkel) is seeking from December 1st 2013 or as soon as<br>
possible thereafter a Research Assistant / Postdoctoral Researcher<br>
(TV-L E13, full-time, temporary) for scientific cooperation and<br>
coordination in already acquired research projects (BMBF, EU, etc. )<br>
with an emphasis in the areas of geophysical prospection and geo-archive<br>
research.<br>

TASKS:<br>
<br>
* coordination,<br>
reporting, and publication of ongoing research projects (e.g. BMBF, EU)<br>
* development of further research collaborations as well as preparation and<br>
development<br>
of applications for research funding, with the aim of soliciting funding<br>
for the own position; opportunity for further qualification (Habilitation)<br>
* co-supervision of PhD students, M.Sc. - and B.Sc. candidates, also abroad<br>
* participation in teaching for personal qualification<br>

REQUIREMENTS: <br>
<br>
* PhD<br>
in geology, geomorphology, soil science or related disciplines<br>
* very good knowledge and skills in near-surface geophysical<br>
prospecting (GPR,<br>
ERT, SSR, etc.)<br>
* good knowledge of sedimentological-pedological analyses (field and<br>
laboratory)<br>
* profound knowledge in the field of (cultural) landscape genesis and<br>
(paleo-)<br>
ecosystem research<br>
* willingness to work in the field, at home and abroad<br>
* field experience in (sub) tropical arid environments (e.g. Southern Africa<br>
) is<br>
desirable<br>
* excellent English skills, excellent German skills, communication skills<br>
and<br>
willingness to work in a team<br>
* driving license class B<br>

at Weihenstephan with leading partners at universities and research centers,<br>

home and abroad. The position is in collaboration with project partners at<br>
the<br>
Helmholtz Centre Potsdam GFZ German Research Centre for Geosciences and<br>
Senckenberg am Meer SAM Wilhelmshaven. The Technische Universität München<br>
offers an excellent research environment for young scientists. The position<br>
is<br>
limited to 2 or 3 years initially, prolongation intended. The TU München<br>
