Dear Colleagues,

This is to bring to your attention the following session at the AGU Fall Meeting, which will be held in Washington D.C., Dec. 10-14, 2018.

Session ID: 48925

Session Title: SA019. The Interactions, Dynamics, and Energetics in the Andes (IDEA)
Section/Focus Group: SPA-Aeronomy

Gravity waves have been known to play an important role in the dynamics and energetics in the Mesosphere and Lower Thermosphere (MLT) region. Airglow has been routinely observed to monitor gravity wave activity. Thus investigating how these waves interact with the airglow layers is crucial to a better understanding of the underlying physical and chemical processes and energy budget. The Andes has the longest continental mountain range in the world and has been identified as a hot spot for mountain wave and convective wave activity. Thus, the region is well suited for gravity wave studies.

Abstract submission site opens on Wednesday June 13 and will close on Aug. 1, 23:59 EDT . Presentations on the recent advances in the study of gravity wave dynamics and energetics, airglow chemistry, gravity wave-airglow interactions with new instrumentation or numerical modeling for the MLT region in the Andes or in the wave active regions are particularly welcome.
