You mean after I run real.exe with original land cover, then I need to change the land cover information in the wrfinput_d01 file or still I need to change the land cover in geo_em? and run wrf.exe?

You have to be careful changing land use as there are several arrays that have this info.

A far as I am aware (and someone please correct me if this is wrong) LU_INDEX (i.e. dominant land cover) is created from the LANDUSEF (i.e. land use fractions) array. This step is redone when you run real.exe, so as Frank says it’s best to do this once you have your met_em files.

Hi Nafiseh,

When I did this kind of change, I found it had to be done after running real.exe, in the wrf initialization files.  If you change it in the geo files, real changes it back.
