Hi,

Yes usually W is negative downward, check the flow over a mountain to be sure... (panoply is a good tool for that)

Dear WRF users,

I was looking at the vertical wind component values in my WRF output but was not completely sure how to interpret. If the vertical wind component is negative: is there an downward movement of air or an upward movement?
I could not find any information in the WRF user guide or WRF wiki page other than that W is the vertical wind component. And does anyone know how the w component was calculated by WRF?

Thanks in advance,

Iris

Hello WRF users,

I am running WRF for a large domain over the Amazonian.

I got the ungrib.exe run completed successfully, but I have got this error when running metgrid.exe.

At line 98 of file gridinfo_module.f90 (unit = 10, file = 'namelist.wps') Fortran runtime error: Cannot match namelist object name

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

Nafiseh
