[Wrf-users] WRFDA (da_wrfvar.exe) on large domains

Hi there folks,

I have taken to using da_wrfvar.exe. I have used it on a relatively small
domain, and it worked fine.

I have tried it on a somewhat larger domain (1/4 of the HRRR domain:
900x530x51), and it does not complete. I get seg faults, or core dumps, or
both.

I am doing this work on the "THEIA" NOAA machine, and have experimented
with the following:
impi vs mvapich2
optimization (O2 vs O3)
IWORDSIZE in configure.wrf (8 vs the default 4)

So far... none of these have worked (though the O2 compilation is in
process).

Any thoughts on this are welcome - I am stumped!
