[Wrf-users] ERA-Interim data

Dear WRF users,


Good day!


First I have tried to use FNL data for WRF model. But I am not getting the good results compared to observation data. Therefore, I wish to use ERA-interim data. I have seen on the following website that there are different types (Types of Level) data sets  such as Model Levels, Pressure Levels, Surface Levels and so on.

(1) Could you tell me please what is the criteria to select different data options. Do I need all types of data into same folder? Or I can use any of them.


(2) Do I need any preprocessing work after downloading the data and before use in WRF model? Is it need to change anything in Vtable?


(3) I have seen that it is possible to download one month data at a time. But if I want to download the data for couple of days then how I can download it?


(4) After downloading the data for a month, I got only one file containing whole data set. Do I need to split the time step of the data (like FNL data) . For Instance, 00hrs, 06 hrs, 12 hrs and 18 hrs. If so, then how I can do that.
