The University of Washington Department of Civil and Environmental
Engineering seeks a postdoctoral researcher to participate in
development of the land portion of the DOE-funded Regional Arctic System
Model. The project involves coupling the Variable Infiltration Capacity
(VIC) model with the WRF regional climate model (and ocean and sea ice
models) through the CCSM/CESM flux coupler. Experience in land surface
model development and regional climate modeling, including diagnosis of
coupled model simulations, is desirable, as is experience in handling
large data sets – e.g., remote sensing, gridded in situ observations,
and multivariate spatial model output. Proficiency in the C programming
language and Unix experience is essential, as are strong written and
oral communications skills in English. A Ph.D. in hydrology or a
closely related field is required. Salary DOE. Email vitae and a short
statement of relevant experience to Professor Dennis P. Lettenmaier,
dennisl at u.washington.edu <mailto:dennisl at u.washington.edu>. AA/EOE.
