[Wrf-users] OpenMPI vs MPICH2

Bart, we missed you at the Alaska Weather Symposium this year!
The only comment I'll offer is that we were running WRF dmpar using MPICH2
on a Sun Opteron system:

compiled with PGI and on large problems, especially those with nests, we
found intermittent "hang" problems with the scatterv operation of the LBC's
to the tasks. On certain domains, the hang would inevitably occur, but not
always at the same time. Since we've moved to OpenMPI we haven't had the
issue. Other users on this system have experienced the same.
