Job Description
Scientists in the Climate Physics Group at PNNL seek a postdoctoral research scientist interested in cloud resolving modeling of deep convective clouds and the associated detrained anvil/cirrus. The selected candidate will work with PNNL scientists to understand the microphysical and dynamical processes associated with cirrus and convective systems. The candidate should be comfortable working with aircraft, ground-based, and/or satellite observations for use in model evaluation.
Minimum Requirements
Candidates must have received a PhD in Atmospheric Science or a related field within the past five years from an accredited college or university. All staff at the Pacific Northwest National Laboratory must be able to demonstrate the legal right to work in the United States.
Qualifications
The successful candidate will have demonstrated experience with cloud resolving modeling and knowledge of cloud processes. Experience in cloud microphysical properties and the Weather Research and Forecast (WRF) model is a plus. Familiarity with high performance computing is preferred. Strong written and oral communications skills are required.
