Dear wrf-users:

Northrop Grumman has a new position open for a Hydrological/Climate Modeler. The work will involve off-line coupling of the WRF model to appropriate hydrological models. See below for a complete description.

-Eric

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The issue of global climate change has led government agencies and private organizations to consider offering climate services. These services would, among other things, translate the science data from climate models into actionable information for planners. Northrop Grumman is taking a leadership role in this critical area. We are developing applications targeted at several industry sectors to assist users in making planning decisions. Water resources are a major area of interest that overlaps with other areas, such as agriculture and energy.

We seek a hydrological modeler who can lead our efforts to couple regional climate model products, such as the regional distribution of precipitation, with appropriate hydrological models (e.g., Hydrological Simulation Program – FORTRAN, HSPF, SWAT, etc.) in order to quantify trends in water resource availability. The modeling must address surface and subsurface fresh water resources, sources and sinks, modeling of river basins and their components such as dams and reservoirs, fresh water consumption and discharge, and potentially water quality.

The following skills are required:

•	5 - 10 year’s directly applicable hydrological modeling experience with state of the art models.
•	Hands-on experience with coupling hydrological models with GCMs and regional models.
•	Familiarity with current hydrological modeling research and models.
•	Hands-on experience in Linux HPC environments.
•	Working experience with regional climate models (e.g., WRF) a plus
•	Excellent oral and written communication skills
•	Current working relationships with NOAA and related agencies are a plus.
•	PHD or MS or equivalent in Earth Science, Hydrology, or related fields.

This position requires U.S. citizenship or Legal Permanent Residence in the U.S.
