Description:

Northrop Grumman is currently seeking applicants to fill several vacancies in
our scientific applications support team at NASA's Goddard Space Flight Center
(GSFC). GSFC's Software Integration and Visualization Office (SIVO), in part,
provides advanced applications software and analysis support for scientists
affiliated with NASA. The successful applicant will support projects that use
climate, weather, and air pollution models in developing cutting-edge
scientific applications. One project involves porting the models to a desktop
supercomputer and placing them under a workflow tool to improve the
flexibility and accessibility of these models for climate and weather
research. Other projects involve coupling and integrating two or more models
into a system that provides new tools for scientific research, such as the
climate model downscaling capability.

Experience with climate, weather, and/or air pollution models is required.
These models include but are not limited to WRF, GFS, GEOS-5, GMI, and modelE.
Other required skills include:
      * Fortran (77, 90, 95);
      * hands-on experience with HPC platforms and tools (Linux/UNIX,
        compilers, debuggers, e.g. TotalView);
      * MPI (or at least an understanding of parallel programming);
      * bash, cshell, Python, debugging tools (TAU, gdb), CVS or SVN
        repository experience;
      * batch queues like PBS;
      * data format libraries and tools (HDF, NetCDF, NCO);
      * scientific modeling framework (ESMF, FMS); and
      * visualization and analysis tools like IDL, MATLAB, GrADS, and VCDAT.

A detail-oriented person with experience debugging code, troubleshooting
problems, and the ability to learn new tools for analysis and code development
is desired. Bachelors degree with 5 years of experience required or 4 years of
additional experience required in lieu of degree. Relocation Assistance
Available.
