Post-doctoral Position in Meteorology

The Department of Geophysics at the University of Chile has opened a post
doctoral position in Meteorology. The duration of the appointment is one
year, renewable to two years depending upon performance and availability
of funds.

The general research topic is the dynamics of the atmospheric boundary
layer (ABL) in complex terrain.  The Postdoc will apply numerical models
(WRF or MM5) with 1-5 km horizontal resolution over domains in
North-Central Chile, perform validation against available datasets, and
study interactions between the Sc-capped marine ABL and the surrounding
complex terrain.

Applicants must hold a PhD in Meteorology or closely related discipline
obtained in the last 3 years. The successful candidate should have
experience in the application of mesoscale numerical models and good
computer skills (Linux, Matlab, Fortran).
