[Wrf-users] Another WRF-Var issue

Howdy, I know you thought you'd gotten rid of me, but
I'm back with another question :)
With wrfhelp's prompting, and with the help of IDV, I've convinced
myself that ingesting a single temperature observation into my
50x50, 1km resolution Deadhorse domain results in differences
between my background and analysis, with greatest differences
near the level of the obs. So, I'm a happy camper.
What I've learned, however (and this is what led me to all the
confusion earlier, thinking that nothing was happening), is that
the change is applied to variable T (perturbation potential temperature)
but NOT to variable T2 (2-meter temperature). In other words, the
T2 field in the background is exactly the same as the T2 field in the
new analysis. So, of course, initially I was trying to test my use of
wrf-var by looking for changes in my T2 variable, and seeing nothing.
Is this the way it "should" be?
Thanks,
Don
