[Wrf-users] how to run the 3dvar and get the backgrou nd error in nmc method

Hi ,all. I am a sutdent and try to run wrf 3dvar v2.1 .
   can anyone tell me that : in 3dvar  v2.1 version ,how to get the backgound error statistics ?
   From the user guide ,I can only run the da_run_wrf-var.csh but the guide do not tell when 
 and how to run gen_be .Will anyone tell me more detail?
