Announcement of the 2nd Whole Heliosphere Interval (WHI) Workshop; Boulder, CO; November 10-13, 2009.

The Whole Heliosphere Interval is an international coordinated observing and modeling effort to characterize the 3-dimensional interconnected solar-heliospheric-planetary system originating from solar Carrington Rotation 2068, March 20-April 15 2008. WHI science has been underway since then, with several papers already published and special sessions on WHI at scientific meetings (see http://ihy2007.org/WHI/presentations.shtml). For example, the IAU Joint Discussion 16 meeting presentations are now posted there.

We are now planning the Second WHI Workshop to be held in Boulder, CO on November 10-13, 2009. WHI2 will build on the progress prior meetings and research activities, and will consist of presentations of results of WHI data and modeling efforts, as well as working group activities. A later special issue of a refereed journal will feature the scientific results from this workshop and any other relevant WHI-related research. All are welcome to attend! See the site at http://ihy2007.org/WHI/WHI2.shtml for workshop details, which will be updated periodically.

Regards,
Dave Webb

Co-organizer of WHI2 with
Sarah Gibson and Barbara Thompson
