>From Steve Sadler:

In anticipation of potential inclement weather I’d like to reiterate
UCAR’s policy on closing our facilities. There are two policies which
are applicable, 4-1 and 6-12. UCAR makes every reasonable effort to keep
our facilities open (4-1). This is necessary because many of our
operations are continuous, uninterruptable or involve visitors and
conference attendees from locations other than the immediate area. Even
though schools, businesses and local governments may close, except in
extreme circumstances, closure is not a viable alternative for UCAR.

We understand that during inclement weather employees may have personal
needs necessitating flexibility in their work schedules. To assist
employees, UCAR has adopted a policy for Work and Family (6-12).
Employees and supervisors are urged to work together to utilize Flexible
Work Alternatives (6-12) during inclement weather. Employees may also
use PTO if necessary to address personal needs and issues resulting from
inclement weather.

UCAR’s procedures during inclement weather include making and posting a
closure decision by 6 a.m. to 303-497-1100. In the unlikely event of a
delayed opening or closure UCAR will also distribute this information
via UCAR voice and e-mail. UCAR also provides all closure information to
local media outlets.

Regards,

Steve
