Please keep Friday afternoon, April 3rd open for the soon to be infamous
TIIMES Wake. The viewing & festivities to start about 1pm.
*When: April 3rd (Friday)
Where: FL1 - 2042 Collaboratory room
Time: 1pm - until the food & wine is gone*
What is a Wake?
A traditional wake takes place shortly after death and before the
burial. Traditionally, a wake is held in the home of the deceased (in
our case the Collaboratory Room)
A wake may simply be a viewing, at which people pay their last respects
to the deceased, or it may be more of a *PARTY*, combining mourning with
a celebration of the deceased's life. Originally, a wake was held to
watch for signs of life and to confirm that the person was dead before
burial. Other common activities during an Irish wake are eating and
drinking, dancing, playing games, and of course, reminiscing about the
deceased.
A wake is a time of sadness, but also a time to bond with family &
friends and to remember the deceased fondly.
Unfortunately due to Boulder County Fire Code we will be able to add the
traditional Viking custom of setting fire to the deceased.
