tgcmgroup:
This problem, reported June 22 (see below), has been resolved
by replacement of a faulty hardware module in a networking device
on blueice. Now blueice has no problem reading files that reside
on the /hao disk.

Subject: [Tgcmgroup] reading nc files on blueice
Message-ID: <200706222131.l5MLVZM28914 at jabba.hao.ucar.edu>
Hi tgcmgroup:
We have identified a hopefully temporary problem reading files
on the /hao disk at CISL from /ptmp on blueice. This occurs if you
specify an nc file on $TGCMROOT in the namelist read input file,
for example:
SOURCE = '/hao/tgcm/data/xyz.nc'
Even when this file exists, the model may hang during execution
after opening this file. The program finds the file and opens it,
but then it hangs on the first read until it times out or is killed.
The workaround on blueice is to simply copy or soft-link the file
from /hao to /ptmp (e.g., to your working or exec directories), and
read it there (e.g., SOURCE='/ptmp/.../xyz.nc', or SOURCE='xyz.nc'
if you copied to exec dir).
Again, this is on blueice only, and assumes the model is being run
from a /ptmp directory. Everthing works fine on bluevista.
This problem has been reported to the network people at CISL, so
hopefully it will be fixed in the near future.
