In the past, the application included a student application and a host form. Beginning this cycle, we have added a work plan to be completed jointly by the student and the host. The goal of this new step is to support you as hosts in setting clear expectations with your student and their advisor, and to identify any support needs in advance. This addition comes from prior experiences where students required more support than anticipated, or where the goals of a visit weren?t fully defined. By clarifying this early, we hope to make visits smoother and rewarding for both the host and the student. To help balance the workload, the host nomination form has been shortened. To help with this change, my team will offer drop-in hours (information below) for both hosts and students to answer any questions. We?ll also be sharing this information through Sundog, but I wanted to give you a direct heads-up and, again, thank you for the time, energy, and expertise you dedicate to hosting and mentoring GVP students. Your guidance is the foundation of their experience and has an incredible impact on their growth and success. Upcoming GVP Virtual Office Hours ? September 29, 2025 GVP staff will host two virtual office hours on Monday, September 29, 2025, one for prospective graduate student visitors and one for hosts. These drop-in hours are informal and provide an opportunity to ask questions about the Graduate Visitor Program, including important updates to the application process. - Office hours for students: 10:00 AM (MDT) - Office hours for hosts: 11:00 AM (MDT) Register using the links below: - Students Register here - Hosts Register here Many thanks, Jerry -- Jerry M.
