Dear Colleagues,

It is my great pleasure to announce that Scott Landolt (RAL) is the new ASP
Science Advisor and will begin November 1. Scott obtained his Ph. D. from
the University of Colorado for novel work with observations to improve the
safety of aircraft operations in winter weather. He is also well-known for
work on autonomous instruments that measure snowfall amounts in polar
regions to improve estimates of mass balance of polar ice sheets. Scott
brings two decades of field experience, instrument development, weather
analysis, and forecasting to this new position. He has also taught classes
regularly at Metro State since 2009 and more recently at CU, and supervised
more than 30 students during this time. Scott has also developed and led
the PRECIP internship program in RAL. In his 0.4 FTE ASP appointment, Scott
will primarily supervise and mentor ASP postdocs, lead the selection of
students in the Graduate Visitor Program, co-lead the ASP postdoc search,
and contribute to the professional development of postdocs across the
organization. Please congratulate Scott and welcome him into his new role.

Best regards,
Chris Davis
