Dear colleagues,
As you know, the executive committee of the NCAR Scientists' Assembly
(NSA) supervises
the NCAR Science Advisor. This 1/2 time position was created to serve
as a link between
NCAR management and NCAR scientists; to represent the NSA on the NCAR
Executive
Committee and Directors' Committee; and to provide advice to the NCAR
Directorate.
The Science Advisor must be a member of the NSA who does not hold an
upper management
position (Division Director or above).
The current Science Advisor, Dr. Mitch Moncrieff (MMM), will complete
his term at the end
of January. I am therefore soliciting candidates for the position. If
you or anyone
in your division is interested in volunteering or learning more about
it, please contact
me or your divisional representative on the NSA Executive Committee.
If you decide to
apply, I will need a short statement (1-2 paragraphs) stating your
qualifications and why
you would like to serve in this capacity (this should be sent to me via
email by February 1st).
A full description of the Science Advisor position may be found at:
http://www.ncar.ucar.edu/nsa/advisor.php
A list of current divisional representatives on the NSA executive
committee is at:
http://www.ncar.ucar.edu/nsa/ec.php
There is also a convenient link to the main NSA website from the home
page of the NCAR website,
http://www.ncar.ucar.edu/, under the "people/org" tab.
Thanks for your attention, and I hope you will consider applying for
the Science Advisor position.
