Hello ncl-users,
I am plotting a PDF, for a particular location with relative frequencies
that are calculated based on counts of the SSH anomalies between-25cm
and +25cm, using a bin width of 0.5cm based on 100 bins used.
Using this i calculated and plotted a global PDF which results in nice
smooth curve (also attached here).
But when i used a specific location, e.g New York, using the same method
as above, the PDF curve appears very rough/ragged.
Is this also because of the data distribution and not only dependent on
the number of bins used?
How can i further smooth this curve, result attached. I have tried to
play around with the bin bounds, and number of bins used (25,50,75).
Using bin =25 results in slightly more smooth PDF but the amplitude of
the percentage % increases dramatically...
