[ncl-install] NCL installation problems

Dear Specialist,

(1) My new desktop runs Ubuntu 18.04, and the NCL version installed by our ICT people is
ncl_ncarg-6.2.0.Linux_Debian7.4_x86_64_gcc472.tar
I suspect it is not the right one, but I am not sure. What is your opinion?

(2) When I try to compile, I have problems with "iconv" library (I think I have installed it, but it is problematic; when I link it there are other error messages):
nca fstream.f
gfortran -fPIC -fno-second-underscore -fno-range-check -fopenmp -O -w -frecord-marker=4 -O4 -o object fstream.f -L/usr/local/ncl-6.2.0/lib -L/usr/X11R6/lib64 -lncarg -lncarg_gks -lncarg_c -lX11 -lXext -lcairo -lfontconfig -lpixman-1 -lfreetype -lexpat -lpng -lz -liconv -lXrender -lbz2
/usr/bin/ld: cannot find -liconv
collect2: error: ld returned 1 exit status

Can you enlighten me, please, on what I should do with this library, and what is the best way to add it in?

Many thanks in advance,
Pavel
