Hi Geoffrey,
In order to run an NCL script, you don't want to run "ncl" interactively. Instead, run it from the UNIX command line:
ncl will_plot_era_arc2_std.ncl
If you really want to run your script from interactive NCL, then you can type:
ncl 0> load "will_plot_era_arc2_std.ncl"
