[ncl-install] trouble installing ncl on a PC

Hi Dan,
Could you try downloading the 6.0.0-beta version instead and see if you have the same problem?
You need to make sure that you are running NCL from a Cygwin/X11 window, and not just a Cygwin window.

Lastly, did you upgrade Cygwin before you installed NCL? This also might help.
