CLASSIFICATION: UNCLASSIFIED

I just created the attached plot XML, but when I try to load it, it doesn't
load. Is there anything you can see in the file which is an indication of
what the problem is? I've tried refreshing the web GUI and reload database
and then attempting to load it, but never loads. Also tried closing and
reopening the browser but no change. I have tested the XML files for other
plots and they are working fine.

Thanks.

Hi John
I don't see any errors in your XML and METviewer "should' load it to
the GUI.
To debug it, I would look if the spellings of the database name,
variables and values are correct.
I also would recreate the same configuration on GUI using the values
from XML, create a plot and compare generated XML with this one.

I checked the file for misspellings and found none. I recreated the
plot from scratch and then used "diff" to see any differences and I
find nothing. I tried closing/reopening the browser and then loading
the XML I just created and it works. Did the same thing and then tried
loading the original XML which I sent to you and it doesn't work. I'm
suspecting that there is something in that filename that METViewer
doesn't like. Maybe the "&"? I tested that theory and substituted a
"_" for teh "&" and tried again but still doesn't load. I've attached
the new file which loads OK. I will try some other renaming to see if
I there is something in the filename other than "&" which might fix
the problem. So strange..

John,
I suspect that it might be '&' character in the <title> tag. You use
the older version of METviewer? Is this correct? To the current
version 3.1 we added the fix that allows users to safely include the
special characters to titles and labels. But for the older versions I
would suggest to stay away from the special characters.

Thanks for pointing out the possibility that the presence of special
characters in the title tag creating problems. I will try editing the
title tag in the plot XML to remove the "&" and then re-loading it to
see if that results in a change for the better. My version is 2.11.

I just tried a test of the edited file and I believe that your
diagnosis was correct. There was a noticeable difference in the
behavior when loading the file. Unlike before, where it refused to
load at all, it now loads, populates the GUI with all the expected
settings including the Titles & Labels section, but now I'm having an
issue with gsl (again) which is preventing the plot from being
generated and displayed. I need to get with Rey (system admin) and
have him restore it. I think that once gsl is working again, I will be
able to generate the plot. Will update you on the results when the gsl
issue is resolved.

Just an update to let you know that the gsl issue is resolved,
hopefully in a more robust/permanent way, and the XML file loads and
plots fine now.

Thanks again for tracking down the source of the issue which was
preventing the loading.
