Initial Request

CLASSIFICATION: UNCLASSIFIED
I attempted generating a plot which I had successfully done using hourly
data for a 3-day period, but this time for a 99-day period I get an error
after about 23 mins . See attached. I didn't click "OK" to dismiss the error
notification pop-up shown in the attached and I notice that the progress
"spinner" continues spinning as if it is still working on the plot. Why am I
receiving this error?
Thanks.

Hi John,
I assume that you run Tomcat with Apache...
Some jobs configurations can take a few minutes to finish. During that
time web application is waiting for the back end to finish data
processing and plot creation and get back with a result.
If Apache Timeout value is smaller than the time that the application
needs to finish a request users receive an error similar to the one
you see.
Actually, the image was created but it took more that Apache Timeout
allows to finish the job.
We experienced the same problem on our server and solved it by
increasing Timeout and restarted Apache.

Tatiana -
This is very good info for the future. Helps in understanding the
factors
involved. I'll talk to my system admin about increasing the time out
values. I
actually did some testing this morning where I decreased the plotting
requirement (gui selection) and then re-generated the plot. It
finished in
about 3 mins. Then I simply added the requirement back in and it
plotted in
only 3 mins. I'm not sure why this enabled the plot I originally
wanted to be
generated to complete in much less time, but the results were
successful.
